FAQs

Do I have to be vegan to book an appointment?

Absolutely not! I consult people from all different dietary backgrounds, not just vegans.

My mission at Plant Powered Nutrition is to encourage people to eat more plant foods, irrespective of their current diet.

Do you see pregnant women?

Yes, I have completed additional training in this area.

Do you see infants and children?

Not at this stage.

Do you offer alternative appointment times outside clinic hours?

Yes, if you are unable to make it to an appointment during clinic hours, please send an email to emily.plantpowerednutrition@gmail.com with alternative days/times, and I’ll endeavour to meet your request.

Do you offer health fund rebates?

Health fund rebates are available if your private health insurance has Extras cover for nutrition/dietetics. If you wish to check directly with your health fund to see if you are eligible for a rebate, the item codes are 500/600 for initial/review in-clinic consultations, and 301/302 for initial/review telehealth consultations. I will provide you with an invoice immediately after your appointment so you can claim directly with your health fund.

Do you offer Medicare rebates?

Yes, if you are referred by your GP and have a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM, previously known as an EPC or Enhanced Primary Care plan), you are eligible for Medicare rebates. With a valid CDM plan, you are eligible for a Medicare rebate of $55.10 per appointment, for up to 5 appointments per year. You will receive an invoice at the end of your appointment and you will be able to claim the rebate via your Medicare online account through myGov, or the Express Plus Medicare mobile app.

The fees for patients with CDM plans are as follows:

  • Initial Consultation (1hr): $120; with the Medicare rebate of $55.10, the out of pocket fee is $64.90.

  • Review Consultation (30mins): $70; with the Medicare rebate of $55.10, the out of pocket fee is $14.90.

CDM plans are available to those with chronic health condition such as asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, cardiovascular disease, or diabetes, at the discretion of your GP. Please discuss your eligibility for a Medicare CDM plan with your GP.

How do I pay for my appointment?

Fees for initial consultations are payable in full at the time of booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made 48 hours or more in advance of the scheduled appointment time are able to be rescheduled, or a full refund provided (minus booking fees). Due to the preparation time involved in planning for our appointment, unfortunately cancellations made within 48hrs of the scheduled appointment time are subject to a 50% cancellation fee, however individual circumstances will be considered.

What is involved in an online consultation?

Online consultations work the same as in-clinic consultations, but are delivered in the comfort of your own home using telehealth software. All recommendations and resources are sent to you via email after your consultation.

I don’t live in Australia, do you consult world-wide?

Yes, I offer world-wide consults, however I recommend sending me an email before you book so that we can find a suitable time with the differing time-zones.
